September 11th - Remembering the lives lost and Blessed Joan Roig i Diggle

Today, on September 11th, we remember the tragic and horrifying events of this day in 2001. Today, I will be praying and offering sacrifices for those involved in the plane crashes and Twin Tower attack that day.

September 11th is also the Feast of Bl. Joan Roig i Diggle (1882-1969)

Today, we also celebrate a fitting Blessed for the day - Blessed Joan Roig i Diggle. He is the patron of children, youths, and workers. Blessed Joan was born to a poor family and worked as a store clerk. He spent hours in Eucharistic Adoration, and had a deep devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Blessed Joan also often brought the Eucharist to people during the Spanish Civil War, and he protected the Blessed Sacrament on one journey by consuming many Hosts to prevent desecration. He was arrested for his faith and martyred on September 11, 1936.

65 years after Blessed Joan’s death, many children lost their lives in the Twin Towers in New York City. Many children also lost their parents, aunts, uncles, and friends. Dozens of brave workers rushed into the towers to help those in need that day. Let us pray, through the intersession of Blessed Joan Roig i Diggle, to ask God to bring every soul that perished that day to heaven, and to ask the Lord to comfort the ones left behind.

Blessed Joan Roig i Diggle, pray for us!
